A lightweight menu bar app that tracks your Claude Code session and weekly usage in real time, with color-coded alerts.
Requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later · Any Claude Code plan · Free
One click on the icon and you see exactly where your Claude Code usage stands.
Session (5h), weekly (7d), Sonnet-only, and Opus-only limits — all visible in one compact panel, updated every 5 minutes automatically.
The menu bar icon changes color in real time: green below 65%, orange between 65–84%, red at 85% or above. You know your status before even opening the panel.
Set a percentage threshold in Settings and receive a native macOS notification the moment you hit it. Works in the background with no app open.
Data refreshes automatically every 5 minutes. Force an immediate update any time with a single click on the refresh button in the panel.
Authenticates via the official claude.ai website. Your session is stored locally in an encrypted file on your Mac — nothing is sent to third parties.
Pure SwiftUI, no Electron, no JavaScript runtime. Under 1 MB and near-zero CPU and RAM footprint — you won't even know it's running.
The gauge icon in your menu bar changes color as usage climbs — no need to open the app.
Usage is well within limits. You're good to go.
Approaching higher usage. Consider pacing yourself.
Nearing the limit. A notification will fire at your set threshold.
No Terminal. No configuration files.
Download the .dmg, open it, and drag ClaudeCodeMeter.app to the Applications folder. On first launch, if macOS shows an "unverified developer" warning, go to System Settings › Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.
Click the gauge icon that appears in your menu bar, then click "Sign in with Claude.ai". An official claude.ai login window opens. Authenticate and it closes automatically — no copy-pasting tokens.
Your session and weekly limits appear instantly. The icon changes color in real time as usage climbs, so you always know where you stand with just a glance at the menu bar.
